Introduction
Is there any better way to spend a summer evening than with a couple laughing, drinking and dancing? Keep reading to see highlights from Mallory + Chase’s romantic mountain engagement photos in Colorado!
Back in the day, when I (Breelle) lived in the mountains, Mallory was my hairdresser. The first and only woman to successfully make my dark hair BLONDE and healthy. Obviously that was all it took for us to form a connection, and we’ve kept in touch for years. Since then, we’ve both moved to Denver and have found the people we adore: aka, for her, CHASE. When Chase entered her life, I got to see her flourish and smile in ways I hadn’t seen before and getting to capture these photos as PROOF of this was such an honor and so much fun! Even though we are so sad we weren’t available for their wedding later this August, we are thankful we got to capture these photos of them playing in their favorite spot: the mountains!
Having your engagement session in the Colorado Mountains always feels free, fun, romantic, and special. Mallory was living in Evergreen at the time, so we of course wanted to take photos there because the place has become so meaningful and fun! We knew it was close by and with weather being somewhat unpredictable still in the mountains in early May, we’d want to go somewhere accessible (with parking right nearby), and also somewhere that gives us the mountain Colorado vibes we are looking for, but without needing a hike for with this weather. Evergreen is always perfect for that, as it’s near Denver but has so many different locations that give that same vibe! (And there’s also a really nicely kept bathroom there, and we appreciate that always lol.)
It’s a super safe place that allows dogs, which is great for our case since Lucy often comes with us, and our couples get to bring their dogs too! It’s surrounded by trees and the most vivid sunsets and gorgeous views, so we love it for embodying an engagement in the Colorado Mountains, no matter what time of year!
Mallory and Chase kept it simple and kept it THEM for their session, which I am obsessed with. We think that choosing pieces that feel like you and look like you are always best, even though you should elevate them a little! Consider also where you are going for your engagement session (for them, Colorado mountains.) For some, it’s the city. Your outfits should fit the place you are going to and also the weather. If it’s hot out, show a little skin if you’re into it or wear something flowy (like Mallory did!) Layers are always great and we love that Chase wore a denim jacket and accessorized with amazing turquoise pieces and his hat.
If it’s cold, layer up and think cozy sweaters, fleece lined leggings under dresses that might make you cold that you want to wear, or skipping dresses altogether and going for something else! Layers and accessories always help so much and add so much personality to your outfits, and we think that Chase and Mallory did the best job doing this! Mallory even put on Chase’s jacket when she was cold, and we loved the simplicity and romantic gesture of that, combined with Chase’s plain white shirt and well fitted jeans. Honestly, just such a vibe from this couple!
If you are hoping for a team of photographers that catch all of those magical moments, look no further! I’ve worked with Breelle and Nick several times now, and I’m always absolutely floored at how amazing the pictures turn out! These two are a freaking power couple and make every shoot so comfortable and fun. Our most recent shoot had all four of us in complete stitches we were laughing so hard!
Bottom line, if you’re looking to have a good time, to feel SUPER comfortable in front of the camera, AND end up with phenomenal pictures… pick these two. You won’t regret it. Promise.
